Discover the wonderful Land of Garnacha
Earth is fascinating. Its story is the story of ancient seas and magnificent cataclysms, ancient cultures, legends, kingdoms, dreams and struggles and genius. The heritage of a glorious past.
I felt in love with this terroir at first sight. We are today in the land where Garnacha originated, in what is now eastern Spain. Garnacha thrived in the hot, dry Mediterranean climate, and soon spread to other places where the Kingdom of Aragón expanded.
Garnacha is ideally adapted to the climate of hot and windy Mediterranean valleys. The strength of the dry wind has shaped the character of this land of contrasts, with changing temperatures, dark and intense cold nights and long bright days.
It does not rain much here. In fact, Garnacha prefers hot, dry soils that are well drained, where it can concentrate flavors and aromas, especially with old vine, such as these magnificent centenary/old vines. A nowadays treasure, a miracle!
The History of wine is an expression of deep-rooted and ancient traditions. Grape growing and winemaking traditions date back from the second century BC in Europe.
Winemakers have dedicated their time to explore the best grapes and develop optimum techniques to get the best possible wines.
It is the memory of the land and the wisdom of its people, that creates the unique formula of Protected Designations of Origin, the quality scheme for European products.
These lands are no longer understood without winemaking. Hundreds of harvesting cycles, terroir and endless know-how make the quintessential Mediterranean wine grape: Garnacha.
Old vines, new wines.
